Question:

How can I update cross-section catalogs or install country-specific cross-section catalogs in Allplan 2011 and later?



Answer:

To install and save cross-section catalogs in Allplan 2011 and later, select Tools -> Defaults -> Cross-Section Catalogs. A dialog box opens. You can find a folder symbol and a disk symbol at bottom left.

To install cross-section catalogs, use the folder symbol. Another dialog opens, where you can select the cross-section catalog file you want to install. Select the file to be installed and click "Open" to confirm. This installs the corresponding cross-section catalog, which you can now use in Allplan.
To install country-specific cross-section catalogs, select the "Ing" folder, which was created when you installed Allplan. You can find it in the Allplan installation path (e.g., c:\Nemetschek\Allplan 201x\New\Ing - more information on the Allplan installation path is provided below in the "Notes" section).
This folder includes the country-specify cross-section catalog files.

To save a custom cross-section catalog, use the disk symbol. Another dialog opens, where you can select any folder to save the cross-section catalogs currently used in Allplan.



Note:

To update cross-section catalogs, you may need administrator privileges. If necessary, log on as an administrator before you start the update.

To use the cross-section catalogs for a specific project only, set the path settings for the cross-section catalogs of this project to project before you install the cross-section catalogs. In Allplan, open the "File" menu and select "Open Project..." Click the corresponding project with the right mouse button. Select "Properties". A dialog box opens. In the "Path settings" area, set the "Bar and mesh cross-section catalogs" to "Project".

To determine the path where Allplan is installed, use the Services application and select Service -> Hotline Tools-> showcfg. The Services application window shows the path of the Allplan installation folder.

Allplan from version 2011

Parts of Allplan 2011 have been reprogrammed and are completely new. Allplan uses a graphics library, which has been developed especially for CAD programs and visualization tasks. Depending on the data type and application, the display speed of Allplan is much higher than that of earlier versions, and refresh operations are considerably shorter. What's more, you can create hidden line images in real time.
This new technology is not a one-to-one implementation of the software-based solution in the previous version. Instead, a hardware-based approach is used. When it comes to data processing, the graphics card takes on much of the work. The different behavior of these two technologies that may occur in some parts is inherent. Therefore, the resulting display and refresh operations may differ slightly from what you are used to.



General graphics card requirements for Allplan

To fully exploit hardware acceleration capabilities, you require an Open GL 2.0 and DirectX10 (chip-based) compatible graphics card with 512 MB or more memory. Although Windows XP does not support DirectX10, Allplan only requires the chip-based support of the graphics card to manage the graphics library. OpenGL 2.0 is used in 2D and in visualization windows. These changes employ the latest technology in graphic display, so selecting a capable graphics card, and using the proper drivers is essential.

Professional graphics cards versus Consumer-Level cards

Graphic card manufacturers typically have different product lines targeted for "gamers" and "professional users". While the hardware setup is very similar in case of both cards, there are key differences in their firmware and driver. "Consumer-Level cards" (such as Nvidia GeForce and AMD/ATI Radeon) are optimized for 3D games and technologically designed for DirectX10, as speed is more important than image quality.
Typically a 3D model in a game contains a low number of polygons with textures applied to them, while in CAD applications polygon count is high, and the image quality of wireframe models or shaded models is more important than navigation speed. Also, professional cards' memory usage is optimized for using multiple application windows, while in gaming this is not relevant.
Another key difference between the two product lines is the way they are delivered and supported. Professional cards (such as Nvidia Quadro and AMD/ATI FireGL/PRO) are built according to the video chip manufacturer's references, so you can always be sure that the driver delivered by the video chip manufacturer (such as Nvidia or AMD/ATI) fits your card.
The manufacturers of Consumer-Level cards (such as ASUS, Sapphire, Gigabyte, PNY and so on) may diverge from the chip manufacturer's references, so their drivers may not be compatible with the chip manufacturer's reference driver. Also, the product life cycle and driver release cycles are much shorter in case of gaming cards, usually 6 months up to 1 year at most and a 1-year warranty period maximum.

Recommended graphics cards for laptops (Windows)

For reasons detailed above, we cannot recommend any specific card and driver combination for laptops. However, there are professional graphics cards available for high-end laptops such as NVidia FX Quadro & Quadro NVidia "M" or AMD/ATI FireGL & FirePro "Mobility".
These graphics cards are just as good as their desktop counterparts.
Laptops with Consumer-Level cards have been tested only briefly and cannot be recommended. We have had bad experience with on-board Intel graphics cards.



Graphics cards drivers for Apple Macintosh

Since Macs come with a default graphics card (on-board or gaming), and the drivers are bundled with system updates, we cannot recommend a specific card.
Graphics cards for MacOsX 10.6 (Leopard) or later and Boot Camp support Open GL 2.0 and DirectX10. Currently, there is only one series that is equipped with a professional graphics card: Mac Pro with NVidia FX4800 for Mac.


Notes for Allplan and Macintosh:

  • There is no provision for a direct installation under Macintosh.
  • Access to Windows must be straight from the Boot Camp installation.
  • For performance reasons, Parallels Desktop cannot be used in conjunction with Nemetschek Allplan.


We kindly ask you to understand that Nemetschek Allplan cannot provide support for Boot Camp installations.



Installing graphics cards drivers (Windows)

Graphics cards only work properly if they have a hardware provider supplied driver (not system built-in driver) installed correctly. It may happen that remnants of a previous installation interfere with the current driver installation. If you experience display issues with the drivers listed below, please "clean-install" the driver again. "Clean-install" means removing all previous driver files before installing a new driver. Unfortunately, a simple uninstall may not efficiently remove all components of a driver. There are tools that can do it, like ATI's cat uninstaller or third-party tools like driver cleaner or driver cleaner pro 1.5.



Graphics card drivers for laptops (Windows)

In most cases, graphic card drivers for laptops are supplied by the laptop manufacturer, and graphic card provider supplied drivers will not install on laptops. This makes it practically impossible for us to test laptop graphics cards. If you are experiencing display issues with your laptop, and your supplier does not offer you a driver update, you might try - at your own risk - to tweak a desktop driver to work on your laptop. Note that this is obviously not encouraged by your laptop supplier.

Question:

Why is Allplan running so slow?


Answer:

Check the following points:

1. Current version
Make sure you work with the current Allplan version.

  • Do the following or ask your system administrator to do this:
    Open Allplan and click the ‘?’ icon in the upper right-hand corner. Click ‘Update Allplan’.
    Select 'Find now'. If Allplan finds updates or hotfixes, download the installation packages.
  • Deactivate the virus scanner while your are installing updates or hotfixes. This might require administrator privileges. Contact your system administrator if you have problems.
  • Right-click the Allplan icon on the desktop. A shortcut menu opens.
    Select ‘Run as administrator’ and click ‘Yes’ to confirm the following message.
    As a result, Windows security settings do not block the installation.



2. System requirements:

3. Hotline tools:
Start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select ‘Hotline Tools’. To save your settings, select the following tools.

- savestd: Saves user defaults.
- savereg: Saves CAD registry settings.

Start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select the following ‘Hotline Tools’:

- cleanup: Initializes the display.
- cleanstd: Resets CAD defaults.
- cleanreg: Resets CAD registry settings.

Check whether this has solved the problems.
If this is not so, restore the settings you just saved. To do this, start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select the following ‘Hotline Tools’:
- reststd: Restores saved user defaults.
- restreg: Restores CAD registry settings.


4. Color scheme selected in Allplan:
Start Allplan, open the ‘View’ menu, point to ‘Toolbars’ and select ‘Customize User Interface’. Open the ‘Customize’ tab and set ‘Color scheme and icon design’ to ‘Windows’.


5. Check the availability of all projects that are not online (if you use Workgroup Manager):
Start Allplan, open the ‘File’ menu and select ‘New Project, Open Project’. Deactivate ‘Check availability of all offline projects’.


6. Virus scanner
Check whether an anti-virus program is running in the background of the computer or server.
If so, reduce protection to "programs only".

Scanning "all files" can take a long time, considerably slowing down your computer when you switch between projects or exit the program.
You can exclude the Allplan installation folders from real-time scanning.When you start the Services application, you can see a list of the folders to be excluded.

Changes in the settings of the virus scanner only come into effect when you re-start the computer.


7. Aero desktop effects
Deactivate the Aero desktop effects of Windows.
To do this, open the Control Panel, select ‘Ease of Access’ and go to the ‘Make things on the screen easier to see’ area.
Select the ‘Turn off all unnecessary animations (when possible)’ option.


8. Name resolution on the network
If Allplan takes several minutes to start, name resolution on the network may not work.
To check this, do the following:
Right-click the Windows Start Button, select ‘Run’, type in ‘cmd’, click OK, type in ‘Nslookup’ and press ENTER.
Go to the line following the > character, type in the name of the Allplan data server and press ENTER.
The reply starts with the name and address of the server providing name resolution.
You can find the name and address of the Allplan data server in the second group.
If problems occur, contact your network administrator and ask him or her to configure name resolution correctly.


9. Speed of Allplan projects
Check whether some Allplan projects are slower than other Allplan projects.
Start with the empty project and check whether it is slow too.
After this, select any other Allplan project.

If it is only the current project that is slow, the problem may be caused by the data of the current project.
In this case, the data of this project must be analyzed in detail.

10. Network: checking out Allplan using Workgroup Manager
If you use Allplan with Workgroup Manager, you can check whether the problems are caused by the network. To do this, check out the workstation with the project in question and use the project on the local Allplan workstation.
You can find detailed information on checking out an Allplan workstation using Workgroup Manager in the
Services application. Open the ‘Help’ and select ‘Workgroup Manager’.

After you have checked out the workstation, Allplan no longer accesses the central file storage of the server.
If this has solved the problems, they are caused by the network. In this case, the network must be checked in detail.
Contact your network administrator and ask him or her to do this.

If the project is still slow, the problem may be caused by the data of the current project.
In this case, the data of this project must be analyzed in detail.
Contact technical support.


11. Log files and system information files
If all the points above do not solve the problems, technical support requires more system information about the computer running Allplan.

  • So, we would be grateful if you could send us a support request (Allplan Hotinfo with Allplan logging).
    To create a support request, start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select ‘Create support request (Hotinfo)’.
    Several dialog boxes open. Select ‘Technical Support Allplan’ and ‘Enquiry with Allplan logging’. Enter all the data required. Finally, click ‘Finish’.
    Another dialog box opens, prompting you to start Allplan. Click the ‘Start Allplan’ button.
    Allplan starts, logging all processes.
    Try to reproduce the problem as exactly as possible.
    Exit Allplan as soon as possible, reducing the data in the log file to a minimum.
    Then click ‘Next’ to generate the support request with the log file.

  • To analyze the Windows system environment, we would ask you to send us the logs created by Windows Event Viewer of your computer.
    To start Windows Event Viewer, right-click the Windows Start Button, select ‘Run’ and type in ‘eventvwr.msc’.
    You can also type in ‘Event Viewer’ in the search box of Windows. This displays the link file to the Windows event logs.
    Using Event Viewer, create *.evtx files for the application log and the system log in the ‘Windows Logs’ area and for the ‘Administrative Events’ log in the ‘Custom Views’ area.

Questions:

Why can’t I see anything in a project or why are elements missing from drawing files?
Why are layers not visible?
Why is it not possible to select a privilege set in layer selection?



Answer:

Probably, you have not yet been assigned any privilege sets or the layers are frozen in the privilege set in question. First, check whether you can select another privilege set.


1. Selecting another privilege set

To do this, select the project in question and open the layer settings(Format -> Select, Set Layers). Go to the “Privilege set in list box” area at the top on the right and check whether you can select another privilege set (for example, ALLPLAN).
By default, all layers have full access rights in the predefined ALLPLAN privilege set.

If there is no privilege set with full access rights, you should assign the privilege sets correctly.
This can only be done by a user with administrator privilegesor, in the case of a project-specific layer structure, by the project owner.

Thus, log on as a user with administrator privileges and do the following:

Select the project with the frozen layers.

Open the layer settings(Format -> Select, Set Layers). Switch to the "Privilege Set" tab and click Define, modify privilege set.

Select the relevant user and assign the privilege set using the arrows.

Click OKto confirm.


3. Adjusting layers’ access rights in the privilege set

Finally, check the access rights of the layers in the privilege set assigned.
Go to the "Privilege set in list box" area at the top on the right and select the relevant privilege set (for example, ALLPLAN).

Check the area on the left to see whether there are frozen layers (gray or white). To change this, select these layers or simply select all layers using CTRL+A. Then click the Full access right (modifiable)icon in the “Change rights” area.
Click OKto confirm.

The next time you open this project, you can select this privilege set in the layer settings. You can then see all layers and set them to modifiable.

Do the same with print sets.


Alternative:

Since version 2006, the administrator has been able to select Show all users all print sets and privilege setsin the “Administrator options” group on the “Privilege Set” tab (“Design group” in version 2006). Thus, you do not need to assign new users to privilege sets. This option applies to all projects.

However, as soon as a user has been given a privilege set or print set, this option no longer applies to this user.



Note:

As a project can have its own layer structure, it is essential that you check the privilege set in the correct project.
To find out whether a project has its own layer structure, click
File -> New Project, Open Project-> right-click the relevant project -> Properties. Check whether the path settings for Layerstructuresare set to Officeor Project.

Question:

How can I give individual users the right to see and select specific seats on the license server? And how can I deny users this right?
Sometimes, it may be necessary that a specific user does not see the seat with, for example, the terrain option so that this user cannot use this seat inadvertently.


Answer:

Using WebAdmin, you can give users rights for specific seats on the license server.
Please note the following points:

1. Before you start, check that at least CodeMeter Version 6.50 is installed on the license server.
Start CodeMeter Control Centeron the server.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen. Enter Codemeter and press ENTER. Select Help -> About to see which version of CodeMeter is installed. If the version displayed is older than version 6.50, you must install the latest version of CodeMeter Control Center. Go to the following website

5. Click "Add Product Code"to select the seat for which you want to define access rights. However, this is only possible if the "Distinction based on Product Item Text" check box is selected.
The "Note" section below in this FAQ lists the abbreviations given at the end of each seat. These abbreviations represent the license contents.
Select the required seat and click "Add" again. Repeat these steps to assign more seats.





6. After having defined the product code, you can now assign an access rule.
By default, all users are allowedto access this seat.
Select the product code you just defined and click "Add new access rule".
Click "User" and enter the required user.
When you click in the field next to "User", you can see all available users with their domain names.
Select the user or enter the user manually. For example, enter DOMAINNAME\SSample and select the right you want to assign to this user by clicking "Allow" or "Deny".

If the default setting is "Allow", you can thus deny users access to the license. If the default setting is "Deny", you can thus allow users to access the license again.
You can add more rules. When you have configured all rules, click "Apply" to apply the changes.

7. You need to restart CodeMeter Service so that the changes take effect.
To do this, select CodeMeter Control Center -> Process -> Stop CodeMeterServiceand then click Restart CodeMeter Service.Before you restart the service, make sure all users have closed Allplan.


Information:

Client access can be defined by one of the following parameters: computer name, IPv4 subnet, user name or group name.
Enter the required parameter in the corresponding field. If you use an active directory, the program auto-completes entries in the "User" and "Group" fields.


Here comes a practical example:

Think about which setting is most useful to you. For example, you have two seats: seat 01 with 7 architecture licenses and seat 02 with 1 architecture license and 1 terrain license. Only two specific users should be able to use seat 02. If you want to deny all other users access to seat 02, you need to add seat 02 to specific access rules and define a rule for this seat 02. First, set the default setting to "Deny". Then, add these two users and select or "Allow" for these users. As a result, all other users can only see seat 01 and these two users can see seats 01 and 02.

However, if you want that these two users can only see seat 02, you need to add both seats to specific access rules and define a second rule for seat 01. Add these two users to this second role and select Deny for these two users. The default setting, which applies to all the other users, is still Allow. As a result, all other users can see seat 01 and these two users can only see seat 02.

Question:

How can I copy bar reinforcement including views and sections created with the tools in the "Associative Views" module if, for example, I want to use slab reinforcement for another floor?
I want to place the copied reinforcement and the views in new, separate drawing files and then adjust the reinforcement, keeping the layout of the copied sections. Only the changes in the copied reinforcement should automatically be added to the sections.


Answer:

First, open ProjectPilot (File -> ProjectPilot) and copy the drawing files with the reinforcement and the drawing file with the associative views and sections to new drawing files. ProjectPilot asks you whether you want to copy the linked drawing files as well. Click No.

If there are views or sections containing only data you do not want to move (for example, only model data), select Create -> Engineering Views, Details -> Associative Views -> Add to Viewand add the data you want to move (for example, reinforcement) to these views or sections. You can remove the data later.


The copied drawing files still reference the original drawing files. The next step is to delete those references.

To do this, open the drawing files you just copied. Select Change -> Engineering Views, Details -> Associative Views -> Manage Reference Drawing Filesand remove the references to the source drawing files.



When you have removed all links to drawing files you do not want to move, select the new drawing files with the views and the reinforcement.


Select all data by pressing <CTRL>+A and move the data as you need.
You can move the data in the X, Y and Z directions in plan or define any spatial displacement in isometric view.

You can then add the associated model data to the views and adjust the reinforcement.

Note:

Once deleted, you cannot restore any references to drawing files. Therefore, make sure you delete the right references. Allplan deletes empty views or sections automatically.

Question:

I would like to run the program on a different computer. How can I transfer the NemSLock license?



Information:

You can use the "Export/import - license transfer" tool to transfer an Allplan license temporarily from the registered computer to a different computer (a laptop, for example).
Licenses are always transferred between two specific computers. When you export the license from the source computer, you need to precisely specify the destination computer to which the license is to be transferred. A registered, running Allplan version must be installed on the source computer. At least a trial version of Allplan must be installed on the destination computer. Whether this trial version is still valid or has already expired is irrelevant.



Note:

The license should notbe transferred temporarily when you have bought a new computer and you want to run the program permanently on this new computer. The temporary license transfer is limited to 30 days. For more information please consult the online Help.


Answer:

Open the Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager (NemSLock).

Select theExport/import - license transfertool.

You can choose between a transfer that is "Directly on the network" and one that is "Indirectly by transfer file". The direct transfer requires that the source computer and the destination computer are connected via a network. As opposed to the indirect transfer, you can also exchange licenses when you opt for the direct transfer.


A. Transferring the license directly

Preparing the destination computer for the license import

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the (Re-)Import licenseoption.The computer name and IP address are displayed in a dialog box. You require one of these pieces of information to start the online transfer at the source computer.
  5. Click Reception.


Using the source computer to export the license file for the destination computer

  1. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the Export license option. Enter the computer name or IP address of the destination computer. For the time limit, specify after how many days the license file is to be available at the source computer again. This will happen automatically as soon as this period expires.
  5. Click Finish.


Returning the license file to the source computer before the time limit expires

Source computer

  1. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the (Re-)Import license option. The computer name and IP address are displayed in a dialog box. You require one of these pieces of information to start the online transfer at the source computer.
  5. Click Reception.


Destination computer

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the Return license option. The "Return License" dialog box appears.
  5. Enter the name or IP address of the computer to which you want to return the license and click Return. A message appears announcing that the license has been exported to the destination computer.
  6. At each computer, clickOKto confirm.



B. Exchanging licenses while online

Specify which computer is to be the master and which computer is to have a subordinate role (slave).

Preparing the slave for the license exchange

  1. At one of the two computers, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Select the "Nemetschek Softlock License Manager" tab. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top.The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select Exchange licenses -> Slave.The computer name and IP address are displayed in a dialog box. You require one of these pieces of information to start the online transfer at the source computer.
  5. Click Reception.



Exchanging license using the master

  1. Using the other computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select Exchange licenses-> Master. Enter the computer name or IP address of the slave. For the time limit, specify after how many days the license file is automatically returned to the source computer.
  5. Click Finish.


Returning the exchanged licenses before the time limit expires

  1. Using the slave, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click Export/import - license transfer.The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select Reverse license exchange -> Slave -> Reception.
  5. Using the master, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  6. Click Export/import - license transfer.The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  7. Select Directly on the network.
  8. Select Reverse license exchange -> Master. Check whether the proposed computer name or IP address of the slave is correct.
  9. Click Reverse.



C. Exchanging licenses while offline


Creating computer ID files for the source and destination computers

First you need to create two computer-specific ID files: one for the source computer and one for the destination computer. These files are valid until you change the hardware of the corresponding computer. If the hardware changes (adding a hard disk or a DVD/CD drive, for example), you need to create a new computer ID file.

To create a computer-specific ID file:

  1. Start the Nemetschek License Manager by clicking Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top and select Indirectly by transfer file.The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select Create computer ID file.
  4. Click Browse...and specify the path where you want to save the computer ID file.
  5. Click Finish.


Note:

The folder you select must exist. The computer-specific COMPUTERNAME.nslid file is created in this folder.
If the source computer and the destination computer are connected on the network, you can specify the source and destination paths over the network without having to use storage media or email attachments.

Exporting the license file for the destination computer

  1. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. At the top click Export/import - license transfer -> Indirectly by transfer file.The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the Export license option. The Import Computer IDdialog box is displayed.
  4. To export the license for a specific destination computer, do the following: Click Browse..., and select the computer ID file of the destination computer (name_of_destination_computer.nslid) and clickOpen. Click Next.
  5. For the time limit, specify after how many days the license file is automatically returned to the source computer.
  6. Click Create License Transfer Fileand clickOKto confirm. A file (name_of_destination_computer_date_time.NslTransfer) is created for the destination computer.


As soon as you have exported the license, Allplan no longer starts on the source computer.

Importing the license file into the destination computer

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. At the top click Export/import - license transfer -> Indirectly by transfer file.The "License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the (Re-)Import license option. Click Browse....and select the license file you want to import. Click Open.
  4. Click Import and clickOKto confirm.



Note:

Each license file can be imported just once. For this reason, the file name is preceded by the word "used_" after the import.

Returning the license file to the source computer before the time limit expires

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click Export/import - license transfer -> Indirectly by transfer file.The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the Return license option.
  4. Click Browse...and select the path where you want to save the license file returned. Then click OKto confirm.
  5. Click Return and clickOKto confirm.
  6. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  7. Select the "Nemetschek Softlock License Manager" tab. Click License transfer -> Offline license transfer. The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  8. Select the (Re-)Import license option.
  9. Click Browse...and select the corresponding license file. Then click Open.
  10. Click Import and clickOKto confirm.

Exporting:

  • SelectProject data -->Archive...; the Archive Administration dialog box opens.
  • Click Pathand set the archive folder.
  • Please make sure that Formatis set to Archive (version 4.0 and later).You can find this setting at bottom right.
  • Select the project you want to archive in the list box on the left.
  • ClickArchive projectto start backing up the data.
  • The project appears in the list box on the right.
  • As a result, the program has created an XXX.arafile.


Importing:

  • StartAllplan Building Costs.
  • SelectProject data -->Archive...
  • Click Pathand set the archive folder.
  • The project appears in the list box on the right; select it and click Restore archive.
  • If the program asks whether you want to create a copy, you are advised to do this to protect existing data.
  • The project appears in the list box on the left; you can now edit it.




Important information:

You can use this type of archiving to back up project data. Please note that this backup does not contain the complete database!
This type of archiving is very useful if you want to transfer data to technical support.
If you send a project, please do not forget to provide us with a detailed description of the problem.
This description should include the following information:

  • Program and version
  • When does the error occur? Or what did you do when the error occurred?
  • What does the error message say? A screenshot would be very helpful.
    (Pressing the Printkey copies the current contents of the screen to the Clipboard. Using CTRL+V, you can paste this screenshot into a Word document, save this file and send it to us.)
  • Office name or customer number and telephone number so that we can contact you.

We kindly ask you not to make any changes in the project in the meantime.

A note on fixed projects:
Please do not copy any data from a corrupt project to a fixed project as this may transfer the corrupt data to your current project!

Task:

Several users require Allplan administrator privileges in an installation with Workgroup Manager.



Note:

There are normal users and Allplan administrators in Allplan installations with Workgroup Manager.
Allplan administrators are:

  • Windows users with any login name who are granted administrative rights in the Workgroup Manager administration.

In other words, a Windows user with Windows administrator privileges does not necessarily have to be an Allplan administrator at the same time.

We do not recommend that several users work with Allplan administrator privileges at the same time, making it difficult to manage and protect the office standard, that is, the global settings. See solution 1.

However, if it is essential that several users are Allplan administrators, see solution 2.


Solution 1:

There is one Allplan administrator and normal Allplan users.

As the owner of a project has advanced rights in this project, you can define a user as the owner in a project and set the required resources to 'project'.
File -> New Project, Open Project... -> right-click the project you need -> Properties ... -> Path settings
Set the required resources to project.
You can also make these settings when you create a project or in ProjectPilot.

In addition to the Allplan administrator, another user (the owner of the project) can now define settings in the project.

Notes:

  • There are two standards for the definitions set to project: office and project.
  • It is only the Allplan administrator who can make changes in the office standard.



Solution 2:

Windows users with any login name are set up as Allplan administrators.


First, set up the Windows user as an Allplan user.
Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administrate users -> right-click->Create user

For the "user name", you can enter any Allplan user name, which can be up to 8 characters long.
For the "Windows user name", you must enter the name the user uses for login.
Important: If the user uses a domain for login, you must add it to the "Windows user name", for example, DOMAIN\user.

Grant the administration privilege to the "user group":
select "Administrator"on the dropdown menu. Using this approach, you can also assign the administration privilege to existing users.

Important: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the dialog box and the user overview, respectively.
