[Frage] Allplan 2020 und Lumion 10: Desktop-PC mit Intel i9 9900K oder AMD Ryzen 9 3950X???

Hallo zusammen,

Hello Fredo,

Here is a good website where you can compare the benchmarks of all the processors and all the graphic cards. This can help you to find the right hardware...
_______________

Hello Bertrand,
thanks for your reply, but i had found many websites before with benchmark tests. My question is, if someone has experiences with one of these processors and can tell me, which is better for Allplan and Lumion. I think, that the Ryzen 9 3950 is in front. But who knows!?

Greetings

Fredo

Laut Allplan-Systemvoraussetzungen:

Are you sure about the use of only one core?
When I update SmartParts on all the wizards of one of my products (5 wizards, one by language, with twenty or more SmartParts on each one), the eight cores of my i7 are working at 100% during several minutes.
I thought the processor was as important as the graphics card for good performance.
How can we know how is used the processor and graphics card with Allplan?

Hi Bertrand,

during this refresh, the count of treads assigned to Allplan is increased in any way?
What is the max. CPU-Usage of Allplan_XXXX.exe?

Whatever I Do whith Allplan, never it gos higher then 13% (100% / 8 Cores)!
(except RTRender of Animation Window or CineRender-Task)

Make a "copy and rotate" of a wall with 200 copies so that the intersect, and wait for 3d-refresh!
During this time only 4 cores are working , with 12% CPU-Usage of Allplan_XXXX.exe.

Why is Multithreading so difficult for Allplan:
Because the tasks during an function depends on each other! The task could not executed parallel!
If you render with cinema this is another hing: each tile can rendered independently from the other!

Maybe some functions are mutlithreaded in Allplan, but I think, mostly not!
I 've tested the SmartPart-Refresh also: 4 cores of 8 stay parked, and the CPU-usage is max. 12%!
The coutn of threads isn't increased. So I don't think, there is multithreading at work :-)

Hallo zusammen,

Also nochmals abschließend die entscheidende Frage:

Fredo

Hi Jörg,

You're right!
I tested with "copy and rotate" of a wall with 200 copies as you, and I got about 14% of CPU usage.
And I tested also with "Refresh SmartPart" on a wizard with 21 SmartParts (enough complex to spend time) and I got 25% of CPU usage. All the CPUs were used but not all at the same time. I think that with each action a different CPU was used.
So, indeed, Allplan is still not optimized for multi-core...

Edit: @Fredo: I was doing the tests when you wrote your message. I can't give you advice. It is difficult to choose without being able to try (you would have to rent a computer with your configuration to be able to assess the result)...

Fredo
