Hello community. I am having a big problem with "Not enough memory available" in allplan. I wonder what memory is lacking, since i have 16 GB of Ram 4 GB dedicated video card. And allplan only takes 0,3 Gb RAM during my projects. I don't know how can you make this program so inefficient. i have never seen it use even 30% of my resources.
...end of rage...
Now to problem:
When i try to move element window in layout editor i always get the message. then I have to press OK like 8 - 17 times and after that no window can be selected... then i simply have to close the program to do 1 move again... and again and again...

Am I doing sth wrong? or are these new sections i use for reinforcement just so da.mn buggy?
I have only one line of fundation in the project now, it doesn't get any smaller i guess.
i use Allplan 2020

Regards, Žiga

Hello,

Maybe you need to change the hotline tool "docsize" to 1024.
In addition, check if your license is correctly working.
And I think the best way to solve your problem is to contact the Allplan support to check your installation.

Hi

Two things:

First:
it looks as if DOC Size is set to default 256 MB RAM.
see Hotline Tool DocSize :
https://help.allplan.com/Allplan/2019-0/1033/Allmenu/index.htm#31188.htm

could be f.e. 2000 MB
this should help a lot, but if you also understand the second piont, it will get better . :-)

Second:
if you want to be able to UNDO steps, allplan needs to store the last status of the drawing "somewhere". As storing to file is SLOW, the old , previous status of the drawing is stored into RAM.

this means :
you have a complex drawing that fills the RAM with 40% . Then you mirror this drawing and remove the original:
now the RAM is filled with 80% .. if you now try to do another COPY of whole data, you will reach the maximum.

if you Save to disk: such undo steps are removed and you get again free memory

to clearify my point #1:

1024 MB is possible since Allplan 2016
2048 MB is possible since Allplan 2020
see:
https://help.allplan.com/Allplan/2020-0/1033/New/index.htm#254813.htm

and "yes" to Bertrands answer :
also if Allplan cannot check your Licence, this message "not Enough memory" appears.

Hey, thx for quick reply... i know about the doc size i have set it on 2048 MB since 2020 allows that.
Well ok, but why set maximum of 2GB when new pcs have 64GB of RAM?

So if i press Save, then i loose undo option and it will work again, THX.
- So then the undo option is stupid. Why copy the whole stuff over and over... i wonder how autocad does that as i don't recall running out of undo ever and i had big projects? there must be a better undo solution to the program than just copying which makes everything so slow and useless.

Still I am constantly checking what parts of my system are working when I wait for a command to load... and nothing is capping. I really don't know what are we waiting in this program. even disks don't reach 10% write or read speed during use...? I use SSDs. My cpu is the only thing that is used whenever i do anything.... and it goes to 25% during command...

Please utilize our resources better guys, couse this sux...

oh I gonna check that license thingy then...? mybe that is cousing the troubles? any idea how to check that?

Even if i click save, program wont stop popping those out of memory windows... i rly have to close the program and reopen it.

Still i must admit that 2020 works faster than all versions before.

2Gb is for ONE document. If you open 20 documents, you need maximum 20 x 2GB for "undo".

It's quite the same for all programs but they don't ask you the limit they can use. Then, they use SWAP memory or delete the previous steps.

Some procedures don't need 100% of CPU or 100% of disk access. They just have to make what is defined and can need time and not resources.

This is in Allmenu > Utilities > License settings.

help Allmenu docsize

With this tool, you can adjust the amount of memory Allplan reserves for all the loaded documents to the hardware of your computer.
If you work with a modern, fast computer with a lot of memory, you can increase the memory capacity for loaded documents so that you can edit large layouts. All entries are in megabytes.
As experience has shown, 8 gigabytes of RAM cover most requirements. However, you must always consider all applications that are running.

Recommended:
Average hardware: document size of 256 MB
Above-average hardware: document size of 512 MB
Very large volumes of data: document size of 1024 MB

Note: A single document must not exceed 256 MB, regardless of the setting you choose for the document size. If this value is exceeded, Allplan displays a message, prompting you to move data to a different document.
Note: If there is not enough free memory, your computer will use a swap file, slowing down all applications that are currently running on your computer.

Ok, so my problem still persists. I see no problems with my license and I still don't understand how can i pass 2GB memory in a layout when allplan uses 300 MB RAM at any time during normal use even when i have all my used documents on yellow.
