I want to create hidden line elevations from a building model which has a brick facade. How can I see the brick texture on the elevation. Not the animation materials, but rather a black and white linework representing the brick. I've searched the forum and help files but do not see how to do this. Thank you for any suggestions!

[Frage] Exterior Elevation Surface Hatch
Hi Bertrand,
Thank you for your fast answer. Is applying a pattern a manual process where I need to draw over the elevation view, or is the pattern automatic based on the wall material? For example, in other BIM software packages the exterior material patterns are a property of the material used and no drafting is required.

So, use a color to make the elevation, not a texture.
Then, use the "Convert Surface Element" function to replace the color of the result by the pattern you want.
The color will be replaced by the pattern but the shadows will still be visible.
From what I understand, I need to drop the elevation view to 2D lines and fill before using the Convert Surface Element command. Is there a way to have patterns visible in a hidden line view without converting it to 2D? This seems to create extra work and limits the usefulness of the views of the 3D model. If I understand it correctly, I would need to convert elevations to 2D and add patterns every time there is a design change.
