Differentiate reinforcement bar colors by Drawing File in sectionsxviews

Hello everyone,

I have a situation in Allplan: I generated a section where only reinforcement bars are displayed. These bars come from several Drawing Files (DFs). What I would like to achieve is the following:

The bars from one specific DF (for example, dowel/waiting bars) should appear in gray in the section.

All other bars, coming from different DFs, should keep the original layer color.

I have already explored the Properties of the section (Formats palette, options for edges/lines/etc.), but there I only find settings for edges, surfaces, and finishes — not for differentiating reinforcement bars by DF.

Is there a way in Allplan Engineering to force this type of representation? The goal is to highlight only the bars from one DF (in gray), while keeping all other bars in their original layer color.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

This is a very interesting request:
We have it a lot and i will say, there is a lot of solution but not that automatic.

1°) you can modify the display of your reinforcement bars manually by modify the property. (manual work for each bars.) You can hide the bars in the object palette to change other.

2°) you can create 2 view on top of each other. So one view will contains the bars which must be display and the second view will be the bars in grey. It can be a setting of the view but i'm not sure the bars will be grey. Still, you can modify them manualy.

3°) sometimes, i export all the reinforcement in 3D (from reinforcement to 3D) in a separate drawing file. Than i convert the format to grey color. And at the end i add the model in grey color to my view with real reinforcement.

4°) If it's okay for you to don't see the display in the construction mode, then you have some possibility in the layout editor. You can place 2 view on top of each other from 2 different drawing file.

Than in the layout editor, you can set the grey color on reinforcement in back ground from another layer.

This working quite well.

Have a good use!

Please try to use layer.

for example :

I define object that i want to gray by use layer CO_ALG01 for it.

on layout I duplicate a layout, the top uses print set aaa, bottom don't use print set but set the color by 19 (Gray) .

Now you can see that only element has layer CoALG01 is gray

Hi! In Allplan, colors in views/sections typically follow the layer or object format settings, and there isn’t a direct option to differentiate reinforcement bars by Drawing File (DF) in the section view properties.

A common workaround is to assign a unique layer (and color) specifically to the bars from your target DF (e.g., assign all dowel bars to a “Dowel” layer and set the layer color to gray). This way, they’ll appear gray in all sections, while the rest retain their original colors. Unfortunately, direct filtering or coloring by DF alone isn’t natively supported. Hope this helps!
