Question:

Why is it not possible to clear the check box for 'Find license server automatically' and why can't I enter an additional server name? These functions are grayed out.


Answer:

This problem is caused by Windows access rights. Only administrators can change these options.

Installing Allplan:
If this problem occurs during Setup and you cannot select a license, start by installing Allplan as a viewer.

Granting permissions later:
Assign full control to the users.
Local permissions prevent them from accessing the following file: Lic3LM.ini

Check whether the users have full control of the following folder:
Click folder with the right mouse button -> Properties -> Security -> Edit -> select the user - > grant full control

C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek(hidden file)

Open the 'License settings' dialog box: Services application -> Utilities -> License settingsYou should now be able to clear the check box and enter additional server names.

Question:

Whenever I try to create a project, the New Project, Open Projectdialog box does not open.
If I try to open ProjectPilot, the following message appears:Unable to create ProjectPilot control.What can I do?



Answer:

Some important entries are not defined in the Windows Registry.

Close Allplan and do the following:

Services application -> Service -> Windows Explorer -> CAD program folder -> PRG

Find the NemProjectPilot10.exefile and start it as the administrator. To do this, right-click this file -> Run as administrator.
Start Allplan and open ProjectPilot by clicking File -> ProjectPilot. Then create a new project.
After this, open New Project, Open Project. This should work without problems.



Note:

You require administrator privileges to write to the registry.

Question:

During installation I get an error message saying that SetupSchedTaks.exe does not work anymore.

When I try to start Allplan or the Services application, the following message appears:
The program cannot start; api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing.



Answer:

This problem is caused by missing DLl files, which are required by Allplan. These DLL files usually come with the operating system. You will only see these messages if the operating system is not up-to-date. These messages are not caused by Allplan.
Instead, this problem is caused by the KB2999226 or KB2918614 (Universal CRT) Windows updates, which contain parts of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015. Sometimes you cannot install these updates or they are defective.

If you have not yet installed these updates, install them now. In addition, install all available updates.

If you have already installed these two updates, try to install them again.
If the operating system is configured to automatically install Windows updates, some clients report errors during installation of the KB2918614 or KB29992226 package. These errors are caused by Windows, which blocks installation of files of the Visual Redistributable 2015 package. In this case, you must uninstall or delete the updates. After this, try to install the updates again.


If you cannot install the updates, do the following:
1. Deactivate automatic updates
2. Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Update -> change the settings -> never check for updates
3. Restart the computer
4. Download and install missing updates
5. Activate automatic Windows updates again


If you still cannot install the updates, run Windows diagnostics to check your system for update problems.

Question:

What license issues do I need to consider when upgrading from Allplan 2018/2019/2020 to Allplan 2021?


Answer:

Installation options during Setups

First-time installation with copying data (default): this option copies and converts the data of the previous version to the new version. You can choose to transfer projects, too. This option does not change the previous version.
Upgrade: this option also transfers the data to the new version. However, you can no longer use the previous version after upgrading.
First-time installation: this option installs Allplan 2021 parallel to the version you are running. However, your data will neither be transferred nor converted. You can find more information in the help. Just press F1 during Setup.


Depending on the licensing system you use, you need to consider different points.

1. Upgrade Allplan 2021 – stand-alone workstation

The license for Allplan 2020 updates automatically. Start Setup and follow the instructions displayed. When you are prompted to choose the license configuration, select Use active license. Follow the installation instructions.

Note:
The licenses only update automatically when you upgrade. To install Allplan 2020 on a new computer, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Transferring license to a new computer.
You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license


2. Upgrading Allplan 2021 with a license server


Start by updating your license(s) at the license server. After this, upgrade the clients. To do this, start the License Settings program on the server. Click License Activation on the left, and then click the license you want to update. Click Update License.

After updating your license(s) you can upgrade Allplan at the clients. Start Allplan Setup and follow the instructions displayed. The license server license will be detected automatically on the network. When you are prompted to choose the license configuration, select Use active license. Follow the installation instructions.


NOTE:
Check the version of your installed license server on the server. Starting with the license server version 2016-1-4, the detailed version status (Build-ID) is displayed directly in the lower left corner of the License Settings program.

The latest version 1.1196.xxx.xxx should be displayed here. If an older Build ID is displayed, then you still have an older license server in use. In any case, please update your license server. Download the software for the license server from the Allplan Connect service portal. Detailed instructions can be found at connect.allplan.com/license under the menu item Information on installation and Licensing' and the instructions 'Updating license server and licenses'.

Note: You can update the licenses only at a license server you have already installed. If you want to switch to Allplan 2021 and move the license server to a new server, please read on

Downloading licenses from Allplan Connect

You can only use this function as an administrator.

We strongly recommend that you back up and archive all your data before you upgrade to Allplan 2017.


How to install:


You can find detailed instructions on how to install Allplan 2017 in the following places:

Please read these instructions before you install Allplan 2017.

Some notes on installing Allplan 2017

If you want to switch from Allplan 2014/2015/2016 to Allplan 2017, you can choose between three installation options. We recommend using the second option: first-time installation and copy data from Allplan 2014/2015/2016.

1. First-time installation

This option installs Allplan 2017 to a new folder without affecting any other Allplan installation (2016 or earlier). Setup does transfer neither data nor settings to the new installation.

If you want to transfer data later, you have the following options:

You can uninstall Allplan 2017 and then upgrade from Allplan 2014/2015/2016.
You can integrate the data manually (requires administrative knowledge).

2. First-time installation and copy data from Allplan 2014/2015/2016

This option installs Allplan 2017 to a new folder without affecting any other Allplan installation (2016 or earlier). You can configure the program to automatically copy the office standard (\std), projects (\prj) and user data (\usr) from Allplan 2014/2015/2016 to the new installations folder.
This duplicates the data: you can use all projects, defaults and resources both in Allplan 2016 and in Allplan 2014/2015/2016. This way, you can test the new version without losing your &apos;old&apos; Allplan version.
Bear in mind, though, that you should not mix data from different versions, as merging data later involves considerable time and effort.

2a. Continue with first-time installation and copy data from version

This option is available when you have already installed <Product_Version> and copied the data to a different computer that accesses the same data server. As a result, the data have already been transferred.

3. Upgrade and transfer data from Allplan 2014/2015/2016

This option installs Allplan 2017 to an existing folder, converting Allplan 2014/2015/2016 to Allplan 2017 and transferring all important settings. Afterwards, you can no longer work with Allplan 2014/2015/2016.
This does nor affect earlier Allplan versions (Allplan 2013 or earlier).



Installing on a network:

  • If you work in a network environment (one common central file storage folder), you must upgrade all workstations to Allplan 2017. Therefore, make sure you can upgrade all workstations (deadline for Serviceplus agreement: July 1, 2016) beforeyou start installing.
  • During the upgrade, Allplan 2014/2015/2016 must not be running on any workstation.
  • When installing with Workgroup Manager, make sure all workstations are checked in before you start upgrading.



Converting data:

IBD 2017

IBD 2017 is expected to be released with the Allplan 2017-0-1 Hotfix at the end of July 2016.

Question:

Although the server is not connected with the Internet, I would like to activate the license with the Product Key for the license server. What can I do?

Information:

The easiest way to activate and return Allplan licenses is to do this online. In other words, the server has Internet access. However, you can also activate your license on a computer without Internet access (offline licensing).

Requirements for activating a license offline:

  • You have a valid Product Key.
  • The license server is installed on the server. At least license server 2016-1-5 is installed.
    You can find detailed information on the version (Build-ID) at bottom on the left in the License Settings program.
  • You have another computer with Internet access.


Important: Activating a license offline involves two steps. In addition, you need to upload a receipt file so that you can return the license offline later.

There are the following basic steps:

  • Creating and uploading the license request file
  • Downloading and importing the license update file
  • Creating and uploading the receipt file


If you have several license server licenses, you need to do this for each license.

The online computer uses the following web page:

Note:

As both the license file and the receipt file are saved with the name of the container number by default, it may happen that you mix up these two files. Thus, we strongly recommend that you use meaningful names for the files. For example, include the word “license” in the name of the license file and “receipt” in the name of the receipt file.
This is particularly important if you want to activate several licenses offline.

Activating licenses offline

To activate licenses, use CodeMeter Control Center.
Start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. An an alternative, go to the Windows search box and type Codemeter.

Select the empty Allplan CM6container (long number starting with 130; gray symbol).
If the container is not available, save the file attached to the C:\Program Files\Allplan GmbH\License Settings folder. Then open this file using the shortcut menu. This imports the empty container to CodeMeter Control Center.

Select the new, empty Allplan CM6 container and click Activate licenseon the right. Select Create license request. Create a *.WibuCmRaC file for this container.


Take this file to a computer that is online. Go to the following web page:

Enter your Product Keyin the “Ticket” line and click Next. You can now see your license. Click Activate license.

Next, select the Fimcode 6000100area on the right.

You can see your license with all available updates. Make sure everything is selected. Click Offline License Transferat the bottom on the right.

You can now upload the *.WibuCmRaC file (Browse....) by clicking Upload license request now. This creates your license, which you can download by clicking Download license update file now. Install this license on your server.

To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centerand click File -> Importlicense.


The activated license is now visible in the License settingsand can be used for the Allplan clients.


Finally, upload the receipt file.
To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centeragain and select the new Allplan CM6 container (with the number 130-XXXXXXX).

Then click License update -> Next -> Create receipt.
Create the receipt file for this container.
Upload this receipt file using the web page.

Take this file to the computer that is online. Click Nexton the web page.
If you have already closed the web page, use the link given above and enter your Product Key once again. Then select Continue with license transfer.
Select the receipt file and click Upload receipt now.
Click OKto confirm. This completes license activation.


Note:

Question:

I have installed Allplan using the temporary Softlock license ("customer#_seat_psd.nslock") and "Trial" is displayed for its status in the License Manager.
How can I register this license?



Answer:

You use License Manager to create a registration request and send it by email to register@nemetschek.de.
In response, you get a final license file. Installing this license removes the lime limit.
Below is a description of the necessary steps.



Notes:

  • Using the temporary license, you can start Allplan as a trial version. You can work with Allplan without any restrictions for 30 days.
    After expiration of this period, Allplan starts as a viewer only. However, you can still request and install the final license.
  • When running Windows Vista, start Nemetschek License Manager as the administrator:
    Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager
    Click "License Manager" with the right mouse button and choose "Run as administrator" on the shortcut menu.




How to proceed:

1. Request a license registered for your computer

  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start - (All) Programs - Nemetschek - Nemetschek Softlock 2006 - License Manager(or Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager (NemSLock)).

    When running Windows Vista, start License Manager as the system administrator: click Start - (All) Programs - Nemetschek - Nemetschek Softlock 2006 - License Manager.
    Click License Managerwith the right mouse button. On the shortcut menu, click Run as administrator.
  2. Select the seat you want to register so that it is highlighted in blue.

    Note:You can only register seats you have purchased. If you can see only seats with numbers between 90 and 99 (= trial licenses for temporary use), you first need to install the personal license for temporary use.
  3. Click License requestat top left.

    The License Request Wizardstarts. The Welcome to the license request wizarddialog box provides information on the steps that follow.
  4. Click Next >.
    The Customer detailsdialog box opens.

    Note: Editing customer details requires administrator privileges. If you do not have these privileges, you will see a corresponding message. Cancel NemSLock License Manager and start again by selecting the Run as administrator option on the shortcut menu.
  5. Enter the necessary details:

    - If the Client IDhas eight zeros (00000000) and the CD Keyhas eight capital F&apos;s (FFFFFFFF), you selected the Trial license for temporary useoption when you installed Allplan.
    In this case, install the personal license for temporary use before you create the registration request.

    - If Client IDand CD Keydo not match the numbers printed on your delivery note (for example, typing errors, small letters and capital letters mixed up), you can enter Client ID and CD Key manually.

    - Fill out all the fields.

    Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because registered licenses and replies to status queries of license will be sent to the address you specify here.

    Note:Check the entries for Client ID(customer number) and CD Key , making sure these numbers are the same as those printed on the delivery note you received from Allplan. The CD Keyusually consists of the numbers 0 to 9 and the capital letters A to F.

    Tip: You can also find these numbers in the personal license file for temporary use (*_psd.nslock). Open the license file in an editor and scroll down to the end of the file. You can then copy the license codes displayed after CUSTOMERand CDKEYto the Clipboard and paste them into the appropriate boxes.
  6. Click Next >.
  7. Select the Program, Versionand Seatand click Next >.

    Note: If the Client IDis invalid (for example, when you use a trial license) you cannot confirm the dialog box by clicking OK. Instead, you will see a corresponding message.
  8. Specify how to send the registration file and click Next >.

    Start email program ...
    The program creates and saves the register.txt file before it opens your default email program. The program automatically attaches the registration file to the email and enters register (please no spam) @ (please no spam) nemetschek.defor the address.

    Save the registration file ...
    The program creates and saves the register.txt file before it opens the folder with the registration file in Windows Explorer. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.

    In addition, you can see the data that were written to the registration file.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. Click Close to exit NemSLock License Manager.


You will receive a reply by email within a few minutes. This email provides information on the registration process and usually includes the registered license file.

Note: The registered license file is generated by an automated system. Consequently, any additional comments in incoming emails are not read. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Allplan directly.



2. Install the license file

Shortly after you sent the registration request to &apos;register@nemetschek.de&apos; as described in step 1, the final license file will be sent to the email address you specified in the registration request.
Install this license file as follows:

  • Save the license file to any folder on the hard disk.
    If the license comes as a zip file, extract it.
  • Next, install the license file by double-clicking it ("customer#_seat.nslock").
    Confirm the dialog box.
  • As an alternative, you can also use License Manager to install the license file (Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager).
    Click "Install - Install license" at top left in Nemetschek SoftLock License Manager and select the license by clicking "Browse...".
    Click "Finish" to complete the installation process.


Note:

Do not use the same computer to register several license files for different seats. This would connect the seats. You cannot separate the seats again without the help of technical support.

Question:

I would like to run the program on a different computer. How can I transfer the NemSLock license?



Information:

You can use the "Export/import - license transfer" tool to transfer an Allplan license temporarily from the registered computer to a different computer (a laptop, for example).
Licenses are always transferred between two specific computers. When you export the license from the source computer, you need to precisely specify the destination computer to which the license is to be transferred. A registered, running Allplan version must be installed on the source computer. At least a trial version of Allplan must be installed on the destination computer. Whether this trial version is still valid or has already expired is irrelevant.



Note:

The license should notbe transferred temporarily when you have bought a new computer and you want to run the program permanently on this new computer. The temporary license transfer is limited to 30 days. For more information please consult the online Help.


Answer:

Open the Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager (NemSLock).

Select theExport/import - license transfertool.

You can choose between a transfer that is "Directly on the network" and one that is "Indirectly by transfer file". The direct transfer requires that the source computer and the destination computer are connected via a network. As opposed to the indirect transfer, you can also exchange licenses when you opt for the direct transfer.


A. Transferring the license directly

Using the source computer to export the license file for the destination computer

  1. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the Export license option. Enter the computer name or IP address of the destination computer. For the time limit, specify after how many days the license file is to be available at the source computer again. This will happen automatically as soon as this period expires.
  5. Click Finish.


Returning the license file to the source computer before the time limit expires

Source computer

  1. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the (Re-)Import license option. The computer name and IP address are displayed in a dialog box. You require one of these pieces of information to start the online transfer at the source computer.
  5. Click Reception.


Destination computer

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select the Return license option. The "Return License" dialog box appears.
  5. Enter the name or IP address of the computer to which you want to return the license and click Return. A message appears announcing that the license has been exported to the destination computer.
  6. At each computer, clickOKto confirm.



B. Exchanging licenses while online

Specify which computer is to be the master and which computer is to have a subordinate role (slave).

Preparing the slave for the license exchange

  1. At one of the two computers, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Select the "Nemetschek Softlock License Manager" tab. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top.The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select Exchange licenses -> Slave.The computer name and IP address are displayed in a dialog box. You require one of these pieces of information to start the online transfer at the source computer.
  5. Click Reception.



Exchanging license using the master

  1. Using the other computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top. The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select Exchange licenses-> Master. Enter the computer name or IP address of the slave. For the time limit, specify after how many days the license file is automatically returned to the source computer.
  5. Click Finish.


Returning the exchanged licenses before the time limit expires

  1. Using the slave, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click Export/import - license transfer.The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  3. Select Directly on the network.
  4. Select Reverse license exchange -> Slave -> Reception.
  5. Using the master, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  6. Click Export/import - license transfer.The "License Transfer Wizard" dialog box opens.
  7. Select Directly on the network.
  8. Select Reverse license exchange -> Master. Check whether the proposed computer name or IP address of the slave is correct.
  9. Click Reverse.



C. Exchanging licenses while offline


Creating computer ID files for the source and destination computers

First you need to create two computer-specific ID files: one for the source computer and one for the destination computer. These files are valid until you change the hardware of the corresponding computer. If the hardware changes (adding a hard disk or a DVD/CD drive, for example), you need to create a new computer ID file.

To create a computer-specific ID file:

  1. Start the Nemetschek License Manager by clicking Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click the Export/import - license transfericon at the top and select Indirectly by transfer file.The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select Create computer ID file.
  4. Click Browse...and specify the path where you want to save the computer ID file.
  5. Click Finish.


Note:

The folder you select must exist. The computer-specific COMPUTERNAME.nslid file is created in this folder.
If the source computer and the destination computer are connected on the network, you can specify the source and destination paths over the network without having to use storage media or email attachments.

Exporting the license file for the destination computer

  1. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. At the top click Export/import - license transfer -> Indirectly by transfer file.The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the Export license option. The Import Computer IDdialog box is displayed.
  4. To export the license for a specific destination computer, do the following: Click Browse..., and select the computer ID file of the destination computer (name_of_destination_computer.nslid) and clickOpen. Click Next.
  5. For the time limit, specify after how many days the license file is automatically returned to the source computer.
  6. Click Create License Transfer Fileand clickOKto confirm. A file (name_of_destination_computer_date_time.NslTransfer) is created for the destination computer.


As soon as you have exported the license, Allplan no longer starts on the source computer.

Importing the license file into the destination computer

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. At the top click Export/import - license transfer -> Indirectly by transfer file.The "License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the (Re-)Import license option. Click Browse....and select the license file you want to import. Click Open.
  4. Click Import and clickOKto confirm.



Note:

Each license file can be imported just once. For this reason, the file name is preceded by the word "used_" after the import.

Returning the license file to the source computer before the time limit expires

  1. Using the destination computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  2. Click Export/import - license transfer -> Indirectly by transfer file.The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select the Return license option.
  4. Click Browse...and select the path where you want to save the license file returned. Then click OKto confirm.
  5. Click Return and clickOKto confirm.
  6. Using the source computer, start the Nemetschek License Manager by clickingStart -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  7. Select the "Nemetschek Softlock License Manager" tab. Click License transfer -> Offline license transfer. The "Offline License Transfer" dialog box is displayed.
  8. Select the (Re-)Import license option.
  9. Click Browse...and select the corresponding license file. Then click Open.
  10. Click Import and clickOKto confirm.

Question:

An error occurs during installation of hotfix 2015-1-11 or later. What can I do?



Answer:

To install this and future Allplan 2015 hotfixes using auto-update, you must update the installation service. Requirement: Allplan 2015-1-10 is installed.

1. You can find a batch file attached to this FAQ. Save and extract this file and execute it on every Allplan workstation (right-click this file -> select "Run as administrator" on the shortcut menu...). The batch file looks for the "InstallAULService.exe" file in the local PRG folder of the Allplan installation and runs it as the administrator. This updates the installation service.
Be careful: this requires administrator privileges.

If your e-mail program blocks this file, you can also download it from our FTP server.
Enter the following address in WindowsExplorer (do not use Internet Explorer!):

ftp://nemhotline:ha37jvg8f@ftp.nemetschek.de/download/Allplan/2015/Hotfix/2015-1/UpdAUL.bat


2. Auto-update should now work as usual.

Question:

What effects do Windows 8.1 updates have on Allplan versions?


Answer:

Allplan versions 2014-0-2 and later are running on Windows 8.1.
To make sure that Allplan runs smoothly after you have updated to Windows 8.1, you need to do the following:

1st step: backing up and restoring Allplan user settings

Prior to installing the Windows update, select
Services application -> Data Backup -> Create -> Entire folders -> Private settings -> Full
to back up your own Allplan user settings.

If you find out that some settings are missing after you have updated to Windows 8.1, you can select
Services application -> Data Backup -> Import -> Entire folders -> Private settings -> Full
to restore these settings.

In addition, you are strongly advised to back up and archive all the data before you update the operating system!



2nd step: restoring Allplan licensing

Depending on the licensing system you use, there are different issues to bear in mind.

NemSLock
After the Windows update you need to fix Nemetschek Softlock License Manager as described in the following document:
