Question:

How can I check out a laptop and resume work as a normal CAD user with my usual settings and privileges?



Answer:

Log on as the Allplan administrator to the laptop.



Step 1: add computer to Workgroup Manager
The laptop needs to be integrated in the workgroup so that it can be used for data storage (data server). Do the following:

Create data folders:
Create a folder - 'Nemdata', for example - on the laptop and share it (full control).
Create the 'Allplan' subfolder in this folder. Create two subfolders - 'usr' and 'prj' - in the Allplan folder.
In this example: '...\Nemdata\Allplan\prj' and '...\Nemdata\Allplan\usr'

Add computer:
Start the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administer projects and computer
In the "Remote projects" area on the left, click on Workgroup Server with the right mouse button and select Add computer on the shortcut menu.
Find the computer you want to add, open the local share and select the folder with the 'usr' and 'prj' subfolders (in this example: 'COMPUTERNAME\Nemdata\Allplan'). Confirm by clicking OK.

Install the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" driver.
This driver is necessary so that network services are always running on the laptop.

Step 2: move user folder (optional)
Allplan 2013 and later: the user will be move automatically
(Start the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administer users
Click with the right mouse button on selected user who is going to work on the laptop outside the network environment.
Select Properties
In the field user folder select the laptop
Repeat step 2 if several users are to work with the laptop.

Note:
If user folders have been moved to the laptop and this laptop has been checked out, the user in question can only work with the laptop and not in the office.)


Step 3: define project owner
A user can only move a project if he/she is the owner of this project.
The ownership of a project can only be changed by an Allplan administrator (or the owner of the project).
Allplan -> File -> ProjectPilot - Admin... ->
Click the relevant project with the right mouse button and select Properties on the shortcut menu.
Now you can define the owner.


Step 4: move projects
Log on as the user who wants to check out the laptop.
Start the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administer projects and computer
In the "Remote projects" area on the left, select the computer with the projects you want to move.
Drag the projects one after the other to the laptop to be checked out.


Step 5: check out laptop
Start the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administer projects and computer.
Click on your laptop and click on Check out at bottom right.
Confirm the message indicating that there are still user folders on the computer to be checked out.
Enter a comment and click OK. This comment is displayed if users in the office try to access a project on the computer checked out.
Specify which parts of the office standard are to be copied to the laptop and click OK to confirm.



Conclusion:

Now you can remove the laptop from the network and edit your projects when you are out of the office. To make sure that the projects are not changed in the office in the meantime, the projects that are on the computer checked out are locked for the CAD users on the network. These users see the comment you entered when you checked out the computer.


Note:

  • Only the local computer can be checked out (you cannot check out a different computer in the network).
  • Projects on this computer must neither be locked nor in use.

Question:

I installed Allplan with Workgroup Manager on a new computer for the first time. When I start Allplan, I get the following message: The user profile "DOMAIN\user name" was not found. Temporarily, the profile of local will be used.
Therefore, I cannot access any project. What can I do?



Answer:

You have logged in to the computer with a new Windows user who does not yet exist in Workgroup Manager administration of Allplan.
You need to add this new user to Workgroup Manager. To do this, log in as the administrator to the computer or use a different computer where a user has administrator privileges for Workgroup Manager.

Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administrate users -> right-click -> Create user

For the "user name", you can enter any Allplan user name, which can be up to 8 characters long.
For the "Windows user name", you must enter the name the user uses for login.
Important: If the user uses a domain for login, you must add it to the "Windows user name", for example, DOMAIN\user.


There is one Allplan administrator and any number of normal Allplan users.
A Windows user with any login name becomes an Allplan administrator if you go to "User group" and
select "Administrator"on the dropdown menu. Using this approach, you can also assign administration privileges to existing users.


You must enter the email address and the password only if the user is notpart of the workgroup but needs access to online projects (Workgroup Online).


Important: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the dialog box and the user overview respectively.



Note:

After you have created the user as an Allplan user, do not forget to assign the relevant projects to this user. Otherwise, this user is not allowed to edit the projects.

Question:

Can I "automate" the installation of Allplan?


Answer:

You can install Allplan 2017 in silent mode. This installation mode is fully automatic; you do not need to enter anything. Silent installation is particularly useful if you want to install Allplan 2017 with the same settings on a large number of workstations on a network.

Requirements for installing in silent mode:

Pay attention to the different licensing types!

Licensing for stand-alone workstations:
Make sure you have not yet activated a license on the computer where you want to record silent installation. Use the Viewer option for recording.

After having installed all computers in silent mode, you must use the Product Key to activate the license locally on each computer.
To activate the license after installation:

  • Open the 'License settings' dialog box: Services application -> Utilities -> License settings
  • Click License activationon the left.
  • Enter your Product Key.
  • Click Activate license.


Using a license server:

  • The clients take the licenses from a license server.
  • The license server is installed.
  • The license of the license server is activated.

Use the Use active licenseoption for recording.

Setup writes the license settings to the %AppData%\Nemetschek\Lic3.ini file.You must distribute this file to all computers.


Some more tips:

  • Before you start installing, unzip the Allplan installation package (for example, using the 7_Zip program). Make sure this package is in a folder that can be accessed by all clients you want to install.
  • Start the command prompt for running the setup program always as a local administrator. To do this, open the shortcut menu and select "Run as administrator". Make sure you always start the command prompt from the correct folder.
  • Setup will automatically install any Microsoft components required by Allplan such as Microsoft .NET-Framework or Microsoft Report Viewer without prompting you to confirm.




Preparing to install in silent mode

To record and run silent installation, you need the installation files of Allplan 2017.
Installing in silent mode involves three steps:

Creating the log file for installing in silent mode

Start by installing Allplan 2017 with the /r option on a typical workstation. During installation, Setup automatically writes all entries to a log file named setup.iss. You can then use this file to install the program on the other workstations.

Installing in silent mode

Next, install Allplan 2017 with the /s option on all other workstations. Installation is based on the setup.iss log file you created in the first step.

Checking the installation

Finally, you should check the setup.log file, which was created automatically during setup, to see whether everything was installed correctly.

Note: When installing in silent mode, Setup usually uses the same setup.iss file to install the program on all workstations. However, you can edit some settings of the setup.iss file if you want to adjust paths. You can find more information in the help; see Adjusting the setup.iss filehttp://help.allplan.com/Allplan/2017-0/1031/Allplan/index.htm#331.htm


To install Allplan in silent mode, do the following:

Install .NET 4.6
Silent setup requires you to install .NET 4.6 in advance. The reason for this is that you have to reboot the computer after installation of .NET 4.6. This reboot would interrupt silent installation.


After you have downloaded the installation files, you must unzip these files before you can use them to install in silent mode.

  • Unzip the zip file downloaded. This results in an .exe file (for example, Allplan 2017-0-5-cad.exe).
  • Then unzip this .exe file using an appropriate program (for example, 7_Zip) and save the resulting file to any folder. You can now use the command prompt to start Setup.exe for recording.



1. Sample installation:
Start by creating a record file. To do this, run setup with the settings you need. You only need to do this once.

Use the command prompt to start this installation with the "/r" option (for record):

To run the setup program, open the command prompt as a local administrator and type the following:
setup.exe /r

Setup starts and runs as usual.

Stand-alone license:
When you are prompted to choose the license configuration, select the Use vieweroption.
License server:
When you are prompted to choose the license configuration, select the Use active licenseoption.


Setup logs the entire installation process, writing everything to the setup.iss file.

If you want, you can change the name and folder of this file:

setup.exe /r /f1<folder>:\Setup.iss
For example,
setup.exe /r /f1c:\Setup.iss
This saves the file directly to C:\.

Be careful:
There must not be any blanks between "f1" and the folder!

Copy the setup.iss file to a folder that can be accessed by all clients you want to install. It is a good idea to copy this file to the folder with the Allplan installation files.

License server:
Copy the %AppData%\Nemetschek\Lic3.inifile to the %AppData%\Nemetschek folder of every client.
If you install Allplan on a client for the first time, you must create the Nemetschek folder in %AppData% first (for example, C:\Users\Username\Appdata\Roaming\Nemetschek).


2. Silent installation:
Make sure you can access the setup.iss file.

License server:
Make sure the Lic3.ini file is in the %AppData%\Nemetschek\ folder.


Setup logs the entire installation process again, writing everything to the setup.log file. You can find this file in the same folder as the setup.iss file. With the /f2 option, you can specify a different folder and file name for the setup.log file.

To start installing Allplan in silent mode on a client, open command prompt as a local administrator and type the following:

setup.exe /s /f1<folder>:\Setup.iss /f2<folder>:\Setup.log

For example,
setup.exe /s /f1c:\Setup.iss /f2c:\Setup.log
This saves the file directly to C:\.

Check the setup.log file to see whether everything has been installed correctly. The [ResponseResult] section should return the 'ResultCode=0' value.



Note:

If you have several licenses or license servers, select the required license for each client using the Services application - Utilities - License settings.

Question:

After I have updated the driver of a graphics card from the Nvidia Quadro or GeForce series, I cannot start Allplan anymore.
I can see numerous error messages. What can I do?



Answer:

Allplan no longer starts after you have installed a current driver of the Nvidia GeForce or Nvidia Quadro WHQL series.


You can solve the problem as follows:

For customers running Allplan 2014:
Install at least version 2014-1-3. This version works with the drivers mentioned above.

For customers running Allplan 2013 or an earlier version:
Start the Services application.
Select Service -> Windows Explorer -> General program data.
(Allplan 2012: Services application -> Service -> Windows Explorer (program folder))
Open the ETC folder and then the "Shaders" folder, for example, C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek\Allplan\2013\Etc\Shaders.
Find the "Postprocess.frag" file and rename it "Postprocess.OLD".
Copy the "Postprocess.frag" file, which you can find attached to this FAQ, into the "Shaders" folder.

A note on Allplan 2014-1-3:
Download this version from Allplan Connect or from the FTP server.

How can I move NemSLock Server to a new server?



Answer:

Reinstalling NemSLock Server

  • Select one of the temporary license files for NemSLock server (for example, 1234567a_001_psd.nslsrv). These licenses are valid for 30 days. However, each license includes only one seat of each configuration purchased. The full number of seats purchased will be available to you as soon as you have installed the registered licenses (see below). If you purchased a configuration for one seat only, you will, of course, receive only one temporary license.
  • When you opt for the “Custom” setup type, you can choose between the following program features:
    Console
    You can use this program to administer NemSLock Server. The console can be installed on several workstations. This way, you can administer the server from a number of different locations. However, you can only connect one console to the server at any one time.
    Server
    The actual license server.
    Logviewer
    This tool analyzes the log files of NemSLock Server.
    User List Generator
    You can use this tool to create the users for NemSLock Server from a text file or based on a server.
    By default, Setup installs all these features.
  • If your license includes configurations for several seats, you need to install the additional temporary license files for NemSLock server after the installation (see below).


Transferring the user administration from the old server (if users are available)

  • You can find the user administration in the program folder of the license server. Copy the "users.mcf" file to the program folder of the new license server.
  • Stop the license server service on the new server before you copy the file. To do this, start the "stopService.bat" program, which is also in the program folder of the license server.
  • After copying, start the license server service again. To do this, use the "startService.bat" program.


Returning the registered licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console on the old server by clicking the icon on the desktop or Start -> (All) Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Stop server".
  • Click "Modules".
  • Click "Transfer license permanently".
  • Confirm the following dialog boxes. Click “Browse”.Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the hcws-format file. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.Send this file by email to register@nemetschek.de.
  • We will send you an email, confirming that we have received the licenses.
  • You always have to return all licenses.
  • After you have done this, they are only valid for two more days.

  • Click "Create registration request".Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the "register.txt" file. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.Send the registration request by email to register@nemetschek.de.


If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must send a separate registration request for each seat. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.

How to install licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Stop server" on the left.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Click ”Browse” to navigate to the registered license file.
  • Click "Install license file".
  • After this, you can start the server again by clicking "Start server".


Configuring the clients

  • Now you need to change each client to the new license server.
  • Click Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  • If the license server window is hidden, click "Configure NemSLock Server"at the bottom. It is a good idea to lock this window. All you need to do is click the drawing pin icon.
  • Enter the computer name or IP address of the license server in the empty box. Then click the "Update” icon to the right.
  • Now the user can select one of the seats provided. Click "Close" to complete the configuration. Now you can start Allplan.
  • After having successfully connected to the license server, clear the check boxes for the trial licenses in the area at the top.


Notes:

  • If a user selects several configurations for a seat and starts Allplan, the license server will provide the required licenses; in other words, starting Allplan once might require two licenses. Consequently, fewer licenses are available to other users.
  • 2014-1 and later: If the latest version of License Manager is installed (file version 1. 0. 26. 153 or later, see License Manager- Options- System), you can also select several licenses. If one of the selected licenses is currently being used by someone else, the program will automatically select the next available license.
  • Clients communicate with the server by TCP/IP via port 10977. So you need to configure the firewall accordingly.
  • The license server and the licenses are downward compatible; they can be used in conjunction with older Allplan versions.

How can I export and import projects using Allplan Building Costs?

Exporting:

  • SelectProject data -->Archive...; the Archive Administration dialog box opens.
  • Click Pathand set the archive folder.
  • Please make sure that Formatis set to Archive (version 4.0 and later).You can find this setting at bottom right.
  • Select the project you want to archive in the list box on the left.
  • ClickArchive projectto start backing up the data.
  • The project appears in the list box on the right.
  • As a result, the program has created an XXX.arafile.


Importing:

  • StartAllplan Building Costs.
  • SelectProject data -->Archive...
  • Click Pathand set the archive folder.
  • The project appears in the list box on the right; select it and click Restore archive.
  • If the program asks whether you want to create a copy, you are advised to do this to protect existing data.
  • The project appears in the list box on the left; you can now edit it.




Important information:

You can use this type of archiving to back up project data. Please note that this backup does not contain the complete database!
This type of archiving is very useful if you want to transfer data to technical support.
If you send a project, please do not forget to provide us with a detailed description of the problem.
This description should include the following information:

  • Program and version
  • When does the error occur? Or what did you do when the error occurred?
  • What does the error message say? A screenshot would be very helpful.
    (Pressing the Printkey copies the current contents of the screen to the Clipboard. Using CTRL+V, you can paste this screenshot into a Word document, save this file and send it to us.)
  • Office name or customer number and telephone number so that we can contact you.

We kindly ask you not to make any changes in the project in the meantime.

A note on fixed projects:
Please do not copy any data from a corrupt project to a fixed project as this may transfer the corrupt data to your current project!

How to install and run NemSLock Server?



Answer:

Before installing, check whether the package you received includes the following items:

  • Temporary licenses for NemSLock Server, e.g. 1234567a_001_psd.nslsrv
  • Temporary licenses for clients, e.g. 1234567a_001_psd_client.nslock



How to install NemSLock Server

  • Start the Setup program for NemSLock Server. You can find the latest Setup program on our FTP server:

  • Click "Create registration request". Windows Explorer opens and shows the register.txt file. If this window is closed, you can find this file in the program folder of NemSLock Server. If you installed the program to the path proposed, the path is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nemetschek\NemSLock Server 2006\Programs\License
  • Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer to copy the registration file to a computer with Internet access on the network. Alternatively, you can also use an USB stick. You can then email this file to us.
  • Send the email with the registration request to register@nemetschek.de



How to install licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Stop server" on the left.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Click "Browse" to navigate to the registered license file.
  • Click "Install license file".
  • After this, you can start the server again by clicking "Start server".



How to set up users (optional)

  • predefined user ALLis created automatically. If there is no other user, each user is given the privileges of the user ALL. By default, this user can use all licenses but cannot check out any licenses. By double-clicking the user, you can change the user&apos;s privileges.
  • predefined user ALLallows all users to use licenses. In order to do this, the users must be able to access the server. You do not need to create individual user profiles until you want to assign specific rights to individual users or limit access to selected users. predefined user ALL. If you want to work only with individual users, you should deactivate the predefined user ALL by revoking the user&apos;s right to use licenses.
  • predefined user ALL has administrator privileges unless another user is created and appointed as the administrator. As soon as you have appointed an administrator, ALL no longer has administrator privileges.
  • You can enter users in the “Users.mcf” file. predefined user ALL has administrator privileges again. In addition, each user can once again administer the license server using the console.
  • The administrator user is not a special user. If there are several administrator users, only one administrator user can start the console for this license server at any one time.
  • If you are setting up users without giving administrator privileges to anyone, the program will ask you whether you want to appoint yourself as the administrator.


You can also specify a domain (user authentication for Windows server). However, this is not mandatory. If you do not specify a domain, the program uses the Windows user name for each user.

The program writes the user accounts and the associated access rights as ASCII text to the users.mcf file.

You can find this file in the \Programs folder of the NemSLock Server installation. You cannot rename, delete or move this file. If the program can no longer connect to this file, you must exit NemSLock Server, restart it and enter all users again from scratch. predefined user ALLis retained.

Experienced administrators can use the PowerShell script NemGenUsers.ps1. This file is in the \Programs folder of the NemSLock Server installation or you can find it as an FAQ in Allplan Connect:

How to install and configure clients

  • Use one of the nslock license files you received to install the clients. Do not use the trial license or the license server license. It is irrelevant which of the client licenses you use, as the actual license will come from the license server later.
  • You do not need to register the clients.
  • When switching from Hardlock to NemSLock (server), you need to update the client using a nslock license file.


After having installed the client, you need to switch to the license server:

  • Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager
  • If the license server window is not visible, select "Configure NemSLock Server" at the bottom. Lock this window. All you need to do is click the drawing pin icon.
  • Enter the computer name or IP address of the license server in the empty box. Then click the "Update” icon to the right.
  • Now the user can select one of the seats provided.
  • After having successfully connected to the license server, clear the check boxes for the trial licenses in the area at the top.
  • Click "Close" to complete the configuration. Now you can start Allplan.



Notes:

  • If a user selects several configurations for a seat and starts Allplan, the license server will provide the required licenses; in other words, starting Allplan once might require two licenses. Consequently, fewer licenses are available to other users.
  • 2014-1 and later: If the latest version of License Manager is installed (file version 1. 0. 26. 153 or later, see License Manager- Options- System), you can also select several licenses. If one of the selected licenses is currently being used by someone else, the program will automatically select the next available license.
  • Clients communicate with the server by TCP/IP via port 10977. So you need to configure the firewall accordingly.
  • The license server and the licenses are downward compatible; they can be used in conjunction with older Allplan versions.

Question:

I purchased a new license and received a Product Key for Allplan. However, I use earlier Allplan versions with NemSLock server in my office. How can I install Allplan 2015 or an earlier version despite the new license? How can I activate the license on NemSLock server?


Answer:

Allplan 2016 introduced a new protection system. Since then licensing has been based on CodeMeter by Wibu Systems AG. You can no longer use NemSLock server with Allplan. For running Allplan, you get a Product Key by email. Using this key, you can activate your license online.

This new license is not downward compatible. Consequently, you cannot use it for earlier Allplan versions.

If you want to install Allplan 2015 or an earlier version, use a trial license to install the version you need.

Downloading Allplan:
Make sure the Allplan version you install is always up-to-date. In other words, it should include the latest hotfixes and service releases.
You can download the current Allplan version from Allplan Connect or the FTP server.

FTP server:
Copy this link and paste it into the address bar of Windows Explorer. Then press ENTER.

This opens the folder on our FTP server.

Go to /download/Allplan/2015/CD (choose the path in accordance with the version you need) and select the appropriate file. Then click Edit -> Copy (Ctrl+C).
Switch to a folder on your computer and select Edit -> Paste (Ctrl+V).
Extract the ZIP file. Right-click the EXE file and select "Run as administrator".
Deactivate the virus scanner during installation.


1. Install Allplan with a trial license
Install Allplan. In the 'Select License Information' dialog box, choose 'Trial license for temporary use' and select the license for 'Architecture' or 'Engineering'.

Important: If you work with Workgroup Manager, select 'Different trial license' -> 'Next'. Open the Workgroup folder for your country and select the appropriate license. Then follow the instructions and install Allplan. Make sure you enter the paths correctly.


2. Use NemSLock server to request a registered license for the new seat

If you have not used a license server until now, install the license server using the trial license for NemSLock Server.

Installing NemSLock Server

  • Start the Setup program for NemSLock Server. You can find the latest Setup program on our FTP server:

  • The trial license is also on the FTP server:

  • Select the trial license file for NemSLock Server. This license is valid for 30 days, but it includes only seat. The full number of seats purchased will be available to you as soon as you have installed the registered licenses (see below).
  • Select the full installation.
  • If the service does not start automatically after Setup, select Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and start the Nemslock Server 2006 service.



Registering licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Consoleby clicking the corresponding icon on the desktop or by selecting Start -> All Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Switch to Moduleson the left.
  • Select one of your seats.
  • Click the Registration request (register.txt)button.
  • Click Edit.
  • Fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because the registered license file will be sent to this address (and not to the address of the person who sent the registration request!). Click OKto confirm.
  • Click Create registration request. Windows Explorer opens and shows the register.txt file.
    If you have closed Windows Explorer, you can find the file in the program folder of NemSLock Server. If you installed the program to the path proposed, the path is
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nemetschek\NemSLock Server 2006\Programs\License.
  • Use an editor to open the new register.txt file.

You can find the entry for your seat in line @23@seat:. Change it and enter your new seat number instead. For example, if you purchased seat 08, change the entry to @23@seat: 08. Save the file.

  • You can now use all the options provided by Windows Explorer to copy the registration file to a computer with Internet connection. You can do this on the network or you can use a USB stick. You can then email the file to us.
  • Send the email with the registration request to register@nemetschek.de.
  • You will promptly receive your registered license for the new seat.



Installing licenses
Exit Allplan on all workstations.

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click Stop serveron the left.
  • Switch to Moduleson the left.
  • Click Browse and select the registered license file.
  • Click Install license file.
  • After this, you can start the server again by clicking Start server.



Note:

If you purchased several new licenses, you have to generate and send a separate registration request for each seat. Just repeat the steps described above. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.

Question:

Why is it not possible to clear the check box for 'Find license server automatically' and why can't I enter an additional server name? These functions are grayed out.


Answer:

This problem is caused by Windows access rights. Only administrators can change these options.

Installing Allplan:
If this problem occurs during Setup and you cannot select a license, start by installing Allplan as a viewer.

Granting permissions later:
Assign full control to the users.
Local permissions prevent them from accessing the following file: Lic3LM.ini

Check whether the users have full control of the following folder:
Click folder with the right mouse button -> Properties -> Security -> Edit -> select the user - > grant full control

C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek(hidden file)

Open the 'License settings' dialog box: Services application -> Utilities -> License settingsYou should now be able to clear the check box and enter additional server names.

Question:

What are the reasons why I cannot modify the format properties (pen thickness, color, ...) of elements in a DWG/DXF file I have just imported?



Answer:

There are four reasons why these elements cannot be modified.

1st -the elements are smart symbols:

  • To retain the smart symbols but still be able to modify the elements, select Modify -> Bonus Tools -> Smart Symbols -> Modify Smart Symbol(until V2006: Modify -> Bonus Tools -> Smart Symbols -> Modify Display Parameters) and click the relevant element. Now you can modify it (using Modify Format Properties, for example). For more detailed information on how to modify smart symbols, please contact us.
  • If you do not want to retain the smart symbol, you can also resolve it: Modify -> Bonus Tools -> Smart Symbols -> Unlink Smart Symbol, select the smart symbol(s) you want to resolve and click the right mouse button to confirm.
  • To resolve the smart symbols during import, select the file to be imported, click the"Options..."button,open the "Advanced Settings" tab (until Allplan 2008 "Advanced Transfer Settings")and select the"Smart symbol"check box in the"Explode elements" area. To confirm the dialog box, click OKand open the file.


2nd - theelements are composite elements:

  • To explode a composite element, select Modify -> Advanced Draft -> Explode Composite Element. Select the composite element(s).
  • To resolve the composite elements during import, select the file to be imported, click the "Options..." button, open the"Advanced Settings" tab" (until Allplan 2008: "Advanced Transfer Settings") andselect the "Composite elements"check box in the"Explode compounds" area. To confirm the dialog box, click OKand open the file.


3rd - the elements are on frozen layers:

  • To modify these elements, you first have to set the corresponding layers to modifiable. Open the layer selection by clickingFormat -> Select, Set Layers.On theSelect Layer/Visibilitytab, set all the layers to modifiable.


4th - the elements have the "from layer" format property:

  • To find this out, click an element with the right mouse button and selectFormat Propertieson the shortcut menu: pen thickness, line type or line color is not available for elements with the "from layer" format property.
  • To modify the format properties of the layer, select Format -> Select, Set Layers and open the&apos;Format Definition&apos; tab. Check that the&apos;&apos;Match from layer based on line style, pen, line, color assigned (fixed setting)"optionis selected in the"Layers&apos; format properties" area. Next, select the layer on which the element resides and change its format properties.
  • To remove this property, clickEdit -> Modify Format Properties, select the"Change &apos;from layer&apos; for pen, line and color" option(pen thickness, line type and line color must not be selected) and select the elements.
  • To resolve the "from layer" property during import, select the file to be imported, click the "Options..." button, open the"Advanced Settings" tab" (until Allplan 2008: "Advanced Transfer Settings") andselect the "From layer"check box in the"Explode compounds" area. To confirm the dialog box, click OKand open the file.
